After Effects of Supreme Court Historic Decision of Supreme Court on Friday will be a landmark in the judicial history of Pakistan and help the system of Democracy to prevail. On August 1st, restored after a long struggle of Lawyers and Civil Society the Supreme Judiciary announced all the orders and acts of former President Gen. (R) Pervez Musharraf null and void during the emergency of November 3rd, an exception to a few ones like Oath of President Zadora etc. Judicial orders like the subject one are very rare in the countries of third world, where the Decision-Makers, Rulers and Military General are considered above the law.
Supreme Courts recent decision is very sensible too, as it helped the current political and democratic system to prevail; unlike it was feared last year during Musharraf’s government. One of the advantages of this decision is that all the Presidential Ordinances will be passed by the Parliament in 90 days, otherwise it will be considered ineffective if the Parliament reject it. Among those Ordinances, NRO is a famous one, whose beneficiaries are Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her husband and President Zadari. The ball has been hit in the court of parliament to decide the fate of those Ordinances and of course the Ordinances like NRO have a lot more opposition in the Parliament. The whole Pakistani nation will wait for that 90 days’ time, and it is in fact a real and tough test for those elected by them as their decision makers. But overall it will have a certain positive effect over the future of the country in a long run.
